The events of that tribal council obviously are the ones we're all going to be talking about, but lest we forget, there was plenty of other great drama leading up to it. How in the hell did we come to a place where Rupert -- Rupert! – was the one thinking logically and insisting the group not all believe Russell? JT in the meantime really dug himself a hole – one quote after another about how absolutely sure he was that Russell could be trusted and how obvious it was that he was right about the Villains tribe dynamic. Let's remember, JT has won this game and Rupert has never come close (yes, I know he got to fourth place in All-Stars - but only because Rob used him as long as he needed) . So to now have a scenario where Rupert was 100% right and JT was so wrong was fascinating.
Of course Rupert only snapped out of the "Russell is on our side" spell because of Sandra. As Sandra herself said, for the time being she is stuck with Russell, but as always, she's in it to win it herself. I'm starting to think this could come down to a battle between Parvati and Sandra, two shrewd former winners indeed.-
Meanwhile, Russell again gave Parvati a hidden idol here – except this time, he didn't understand what was truly going on at all, because Parvati never told him about her first idol. If anything is going to suddenly snap Russell out of Parvati's spell, it's this – and a scrambling Russell can be dangerous. But he is still playing with a handful of much more dangerous players this time out than in Samoa, Parvati herself included.
Going back to that tribal council, it was hysterical to see Rupert on his high horse about those damn bananas – and I loved Courtney's commentary (of course she's not supposed to talk, and of course she can't help it), which included deadpanning to Coach, "Banana wars."
It's fascinating pondering what would have happened if Parvati either hadn't done anything with those idols or simply played one for herself (which would have meant nothing, since she had no votes against her). JT and Jerri actually were tied with five votes each, so I'm really curious as to what would have happened if the tribe had to re-vote. But not enough to not to be so happy we got to see what happened instead.
So does JT being voted out -- and man did he deserve it, after making such a dumb move -- mean there is no hope for the Heroes? I wouldn't go so far to say that. One thing is for sure with this season and this group of people – don't count on anything.
